There’s been a silent but striking change in our paninoteca, care of the creators at the Sciué bakery. The emergence of the focaccia panino bun.
Daily, our bakery produces the breads, buns and loaves authentic to Rome that serve as the foundation for many of our menu items. Believing that our delicious focaccia can be used for more than just Pane Romano pizza varieties, the baking team went to work. After some delicious experimentation, they’ve thrown a culinary curveball for the pleasure of your taste buds by introducing the focaccia bread to your favourite Sciué panino. Focaccia has historical Italian and Roman significance. Focaccia bread dates back to ancient Roman times and is thought to be named from the Roman words “panis focacius” (loosely bread fireplace). Back then, households had a fireplace at the centre of their homes and the Romans would cook the focaccia by placing directly into the ashes of the fire. Focaccia was a staple of nourishment for generations of families whose head of the household were labourers building ancient Rome.
Now, with the brief history lesson over, we want to clarify we are not exclusive to the focaccia bread and throughout the week, our paninos are featured on both focaccia and traditional buns, so you have the opportunity to test and try out what your favourite version of our paninos are with each bun.
What’s been your favourite panino on our focaccia bread?
Ciao!
