Two friends from Rome, Davide and Alessandro, roman and “trasteverina” gastronomic experts, have opened a new business in the heart of Vancouver. It is a Paninoteca, Rosticceria, Pasticceria and Enoteca, as well as a Gelateria from Sicily or Rome. Inside the elegant Store, simply called “Sciue’”, created in a very modern style, Alessandro and Davide propose to all their new customers delightful products that in Rome you would be able to find. While Alessandro creates very tasty pane romano, out of this world pizza and stuffed panini, Davide is a Master of the espresso machine and serves the best espresso, cappuccinos, caffelattes and other beverages, all with an artistic touch. Entering Sciue’ and truing to resist all the delightful offerings is very hard even for the ones enforcing a rigid diet.
During my brief interview with Alessandro, the Master Baker, I asked him what was his secret for such a good bread, and even more why the breads keeps so soft and tasteful for many days. Alessandro, after hesitating he reveals only in part his secret and more specifically talks about his Oven specifically built under his directions and a particular flour. This Pane Romano by slice, dressed with very flavorful and various ingredients is created for all palates and it is hard to leave the store without having tried at least a slice. The specialties at Sciue’ also include Lasagna, cannelloni, sausages and a large selection of great wines. Thanks to Davide Bonamici today we have the pleasure of having Alessandro Fonseca, truly roman, even though his last name sounds Portuguese. Alessandro, after am important American experience in one of the largest cities, opening Bakery cafes for an American Company, has accepted to move to Vancouver to launch this new venture, called Sciue’, which is already receiving large consensus from the public and great results. For sure greater results are to be expected, considering that beside the novelty and the quality, they also have the winning card on their hands, being “rare and unique” for the Vancouver market. If you’ll find yourselves at the corner of West Pender and Howe don’t hesitate to visit Sciue’ and try in person all the delightful creations. Best of luck to Davide and Alessandro of “Sciue’” Italian Bakery Caffe’.
